A Cute little Finish

Hello Friends, I am so loving these little handles. They seem like they just belong on this piece I finished yesterday! Choosing the handles is the most delightful part. I will be looking for handles with a little glam very soon and then I will show the other pieces I have done.
I spent the day at IKEA today with a dear friend, this was my first trip and I can see why everyone is so in love with it! I purchased a few things but will share them another day.
I have this little bird on a nest that will be at the sale. I painted some glitter on it and then as a little surprise I put some shiny stars on the inside too! Everything is seals so you get all the glitter and fun but none of the mess. This is the only one on the sale!
I have been working like a mad person on the craft room so I will share the pictures as soon as I get things set up!

Desk Make-over and Barn Sale Date Set!

I have been working long days getting some furniture ready for our barn sale. I found this little desk that was going to go to the wood pile. I thought it was so cute and I thought I could update it some. I wanted it to be fun and bright.
I finished painting it today. I do not have the handles yet but I think it is so cute! I love the robin egg blue.
This very large mirror has been waiting on me for a while now. I added a little gold but decided I did not like it at all so I repainted it white then gray on top. Later I distressed it and it began to come into it's own.
Here is some of the distressing and the light grey color too.
This is the color I am adding to my craft room. More on that later
Today, I painted two dressers, the desk,  and a few random craft items. I am beginning to get excited about our barn sale. The date has been set for October 18 and 19th. A Friday and the Saturday! I will be sharing many more pictures of items for the sale. But for now, I am working, working, working!!!! Hope you will come and share our joy!

Short Break Yesterday!

Hello Friends,
I have been so busy and have not had a chance to finish any pieces of furniture until tomorrow. I have been in Indiana. I was painting, painting, painting but I did not take a single picture...that is so wrong. But we did finish 2 pieces of furniture, two rooms and and baby changing furniture. Oh what fun!
Tomorrow I will be back to working with the paint and I will be sure to send along some pictures!

Priming More Furniture

Yesterday I decided to start the priming process. I primed for the better part of the day. This is the top to a hutch that will be going into my craft room. I am so excited to get some paint on it and see it come to life. But it will be a few days since my sister has asked me to come for a visit for most of the rest of the week.
Remember the black hutch I showed you a few days ago? Well, the make-over on it has started also. Black just no longer works in my home so priming, priming.
And when Hubby got home from work he helped me start to prime my craft room. It was so hot because that dumb air conditioner stopped working! But we finished half the room so I feel as though it was a successful day! I have a lot to do!

Desk Make-Over!

Dear Friends, I worked on a small make over today and I wanted to share. My Brother brought a school desk to my house and asked me to do some magic! It is a small desk but so charming. I decided on a Tiffany green with a white top. I think I showed you the chair I picked up that was chippy white...yes, this is the desk that will go with it. I am letting it dry for now.
It was so muggy that I was afraid to distress it until I left it sit overnight tonight! I also worked on a few other pieces but those are for another day. This desk will be part of our sale in October!
And my daughter had a birthday and her sister made the cake, with coffee icing....so good.
Tomorrow I am going on a day of picking..that is picking up some new stuff for the sale. But never fear I do have more to share. I am working on a craft room! Pictures to come!

Road trip

Dear Friends, My Hubby and I had such a fun day. It was a very long road trip! We found furniture for my craft room. I have been so inspired by all the posts and pictures of craft rooms.
So when I found a few items that I knew would look fabulous in my craft room we went on a road trip and boy...the rain and thunder and flooding...nothing stopped us. But it was a long ride home with the tarp flapping! We made a few other stops but mostly we just drove and talked and I was dreaming of what my room will look like.
Now, it is all unloaded and safe in the garage. Now to find the time to strip wallpaper, paint the room and the woodwork...and the furniture...oh my.

More Treasures!

Good evening Friends, I wanted to take a minute to show you this fabulous chair I picked up at an auction a few weeks ago. I just adore it and it will be the perfect chair for a desk my brother gave me! When the desk is done I will show you, you will love it as much as I do!
And another sweet desk I rescued from a trash pile. The owner said if I didn't purchase it he was burning it the next day. Now that would be sad. I can't wait to show you the make over on these pieces!!
And then to brighten your day. A few flowers from my garden.

My new solar globe is making quite a show at night. It is spectacular to say the least.

Kitchen inspiration

Do you have an inspiration piece? The caps on the vintage spice jars, this shade of color is my new inspiration piece. If you saw my home tour photos then you can see that there is not much robin egg blue in there. But my kitchen and laundry room are side by side so I am going to take the color right into that space as well. I am excited for a change but I don't have much spare time to work on it so it may take me a little while to get it done!
I also have a big project on the horizon. I am going to take the back space in our office and create a craft room. A place where glitter can fly and no one will care. I love glitter. My crafting has become a big part of each day as I am preparing for our barn sale. Our sale will be in October so my craft room will be started in January, during my slow time. Have you been visiting all the craft room that have been posted-bloggers-create-2013.html  some of them are amazing and I am going to use them as inspiration for my space. I am currently going to auctions and looking for pieces of furniture but IKEA is also very tempting.
But for today I have a dentist appointment, a picnic, a birthday party and WW....way more than I want to do...I am a stay at home kind of girl.

Crafting the Heat Away and Christmas in July

Hello Dear Friends,  It has been so warm here the last few days. Our heat index is over 100 so I have spent the last few days working on a few crafts that I thought I would share. I love all things Paris so I made a memory box with just a few fun things. I love home decor and this is a unique piece that I made for the barn sale this fall. I have a little more to do to it but this is the start!

I also had been working on a rose tree but it seems like I would get home and then I still didn't have enough roses to finish it. With just a touch of glitter this rose tree will be complete but honestly it was just too hot to go outside to glitter so it will have to wait for another day!
I was noticing that a few of the bloggers were doing Christmas in July so here is my contribution. I love this deer and I had been wanting to do something to make him glam so here he is will his bells and glitter. This is my version of a snow globe.
I also completed a memory box that was a touch of vintage..for bird lovers. I enjoy working on crafts today was pretty successful. By the end of the week I should be able to get outside and paint some furniture. The pieces I am working on are coming along and I am excited to be able to finish most of them. Well, I have four new pieces to work on but then I will be caught up! Hoping for a cooler day tomorrow!

New Furniture!!!!!

Hello Dear Friends, I made you wait long enough...here is the furniture that I purchased the other day. When I saw it I knew it was coming home with me. I am not sure about the color but I love the style. The little star will probably have to go!!
I found a few things in the garage and stuck them inside just to show you the size.
And as an added bonus I found this wonderful old light.
I have both items in the garage because we are doing some remodeling in the room where it goes. This is one of the pieces I want to use for my store. I have been working night and day. Before long I will share more details.

Making Her House a Home.

Hello Friends,
My Sister and I spent the day with my dd at her home. She had just purchased this sweet sofa and we went to help her hang her new prints. This sofa is so sweet, did you see it at Hobby Lobby? She has not purchased and chairs yet but the cute little butterfly chairs seem to work perfectly. I am so proud of her for choosing something young and fun!

Then we hung all her wonderful, whimsical prints. We laughed and laughed while we rearranged and finally we found just the right arrangement to make her happy!
She had the cutest lamps and you can't help but smile when you see them. Do you remember the bookcase that I posted about a few months ago?  The @ was a nice addition to her end stand since she spends her days working with computers!

This is one of the buffets I was painting but when she wanted it I didnt get to finish it because I thought she was changing the color. I may have to go and finish this project at her home. The baskets will have to have some burlap but this is a nice beginning!
It was so nice to see that she was making her house her home. She is looking for a rug and a couple chairs and then who knows. She was so happy we came but was ready for us to go, let's face it...she has fun things to do!!! What a day, she went out with her friends and we headed home!! Thanks for a fun day, Dayna!
